Welcome to CaliCats Maine Coons, the birthplace of National, Regional, and Division award winning beloved cats!
CaliCats is located near Thousand Oaks, California. Raised underfoot in a loving home with plenty of room to roam and play or snuggle in for the inevitable nap or cuddle.
CaliCats’ primary focus is breeding healthy, high quality cats that meet the breed standard requirements of CFA and TICA. We pride ourselves in raising socially confident, outgoing cats who enjoy our many visitors. We primarily show in CFA (Cat Fanciers’ Association) and occasionally in TICA (The International Cat Association). We have bred many CFA Grand Champions/Grand Premiers, Division and Regional Winners, and so far one National Winner. In TICA we have Supreme Grand Champions, Regional Winners, etc.
CaliCats DOES NOT sell breeding cats.
All kittens come with a health guarantee and are registered in the CFA and may be registered in TICA as well.
All CaliCats Maine Coons are DNA negative for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), SMA, and PK Def. There is no family history of hip dysplasia in our cats. CaliCats’ breeding cats are tested for HCM on an ongoing basis, and all results show no sign of heart disease to date. If we get a cat with positive or equivocal result, the cat will be spayed or neutered and removed from our breeding program. Our goal is to never knowingly bring an unhealthy cat into this world, to suffer and cause their families heartbreak. We do the best we can with the technology available.
If you are looking for a family member who will greet your guests at the door and interact with friends and family, this is the breed for you. Maine Coon Cats are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and companionship. They are sweet tempered, patient, loving, and sensitive. Maine Coons are easy to train. They are not known for their ballet-like moves, and can be a bit clumsy, so you need secure delicate valuables. These gentle giants are known for their chirps and trills, and for their playfulness. This is a long haired breed, so be prepared to spend approximately 15 minutes a week on combing and clipping nails.
